100th Anniversary Logo Contest for Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 68
Our Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 68, located at 2 Poyntz Street, Penetanguishene will be celebrating our 100th Anniversary in 2026. We invite the residents of Simcoe County to participate in creating our logo for this very special milestone. The contest opens December 10th, 2024, and will close on February 15th 2025. The winner will be announced on March 1st, 2025.

1. This contest is open to all Simcoe County citizens. There is no fee to participate, but an official registration form must be submitted with logo entry.
2. All entries are to be physically submitted to the Penetanguishene Legion, Branch 68 located at 2 Poyntz Street, Penetanguishene, Ontario by the contest deadline date.
3. Participants must complete and include an official registration form with their entry. This form is available at the Penetanguishene Legion, Branch 68 located at 2 Poyntz Street, Penetanguishene, Ontario. You may also download it from the link at the top of page.
4. Participants 17 years of age or younger must confirm parental permission via their official registration form.
5. Entries may be submitted on paper, in full colour and no larger than 8.5 x 11 inches by dropping it off at the Legion Office or Bar. Please include your official registration form; or entries may be submitted electronically by emailing them to Kelly Price at kelly.legion68@gmail.com. You must put in subject line “Logo Contest Submission”. Your logo file must be in colour and be high resolution with a minimum of 600 DPI in jpg and png formats. You also must attach your official registration form in the email.
6. The logo colours should include the main Legion colours of blue, black, red and yellow. It may contain other colours as well.
7. The logo should reflect the Royal Canadian Legion. It must include mention of our 100th Anniversary. If symbols are used, such national symbols of war memorials, Canadian and provincial flags, coats of arms, representative flowers, birds or animals as well as all forms of Canadian historical and current military dress. Local geographic ideas representing Georgian Bay are also welcome.
8. The Logo design must be adaptable to any form/surface and be usable on the website/social media such as Twitter/Facebook and on printed materials such as press releases, stationery, signage, banners, letterheads, flyers, posters, etc.
9. Every entry must be accompanied by a brief write-up/explanation in a maximum of 200 words. This write-up has to be uploaded along with the proposed logo. The write-up should elaborate on the concept behind the logo, which should be symbolic of the essence of the event.
10. The logo design should be the original work of the participant entering the contest, free from plagiarism or copyright violation of any kind.
11. The RCL, Branch 68 Penetanguishene reserves the unfettered right to modify the prize-winning logo in any form.
12. The entries submitted after the deadline of February 15th 2025 will not be considered in the competition.
Submission Format
13. Designs must be submitted in any of the following formats: .jpg, .tiff or .pdf (if a hard-copy design sketch is submitted, it must be scanned or otherwise rendered into one of the above computer formats and submitted). Images can be larger than, but must be no smaller than, three inches by three inches (3” x 3”).
14. The logo may be created using pencils, crayons, markers, and paint. Also, the logo may be created with a computer drawing program, but of course, all images must be original. The logo should be simple, not be complicated or confusing, and all elements must be discernible when reproduced in smaller sizes.
Judging
15. The committee is comprised of three independent Branch supporters and Branch Senior Administrators. The Branch supporters will assess logo submissions and present a maximum of three logo finalists to the Branch Senior Administrators to choose the winning logo. Entries will be judged on their visual appeal, adherence to the concept prompting the branches’ 100th Anniversary, quality of design, and ease of reproduction for the purposes stated above. Their decision will be final.
16. The RCL, Branch 68 Penetanguishene reserves the right to reject all the entries, if none are found suitable.
Copyright
17. RCL, Branch 68 Penetanguishene will acquire ownership of the winning logo by copyright assignment, and the winning designer will disclaim any trademarks and without limitation all other rights related to the design (Official Entry Form Required). By submitting a logo for entry in the competition, the designer acknowledges that he/she is the person that created the logo and is the rightful owner. The designer also certifies that the logo does not infringe upon the rights of any third party and that it does not violate any copyright.
Prize
18. One winner will receive $500.00 and two tickets to the 100th Anniversary dinner.
